A series of 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecanenickel(II) cyanometalates ([Ni(cyclam)](3) [Fe(CN)(6)](2)center dot 11H(2)O (1), [Ni-(cyclam)](2)[Mo(CN)(3)]center dot 3H(2)O (2), [Ni(cyclam)](2)[W(CN)(8)]center dot 3H(2)O (3), and [Ni(cyclam)](2)[W(CN)(8)]center dot 3H(2)O (4) (cyclam = 1,4, 8,11-tetraazaeyelotetradecane)) was obtained and characterised. Magnetic-susceptibility measurements showed a high-spin configuration (S = 1) of N(II) in all compounds, which was attributed to the interaction of cyano ligands with free axial coordination sites on nickel. The presence of bridging cyano groups in 1 was confirmed by IR and visible reflectance spectra. Compound 1 shows a long-range magnetic order below 8 K.
