摘要
Creatures that live in Arctic or Antarctic regions thrive in what seems to us to be a harsh environment. But how well can they handle the exposure to a growing number of anthropogenic contaminants drifting in from populated regions? No one knows because very few data exist. Peter M. Chapman with Golder Associates in Canada and Martin J. Riddle from the Australian Antarctic Division describe how life differs in polar regions and what studies are needed to protect this unique environment.
