摘要
Achalasia is an uncommon esophageal motility disorder of idiopathic origin. Several therapies of varying efficacy are available; however, surgical myotomy provides the most durable long-term results. The use of minimally invasive techniques over the last decade has reduced the morbidity of cardiornyotomy, making it the treatment of choice for most patients. This article reviews the evaluation of patients who have achalasia, treatment options, and surgical techniques.
