Full optical analog to digital (A/D) converter based on Kerr-like nonlinear ring resonator

摘要
A new structure for a 4-bit full optical analog to digital converter (A/D) using Kerr-like nonlinear two-port ring resonator will be presented. By controlling the system parameters such as the coupling, the loss coefficients and the ring length, we propose a suitable optical A/D circuit which operates similar to successive approximation method. Our proposed idea can be easily realized by integrated optical circuit techniques (OIC). (C) 2003 Elsevier B.V, All rights reserved.
