摘要
The hot-deformation behavior of in situ synthesized Ti-1100 composites reinforced with 5 vol.% TiC particles was investigated by means of hot compression tests in the temperature range 1273 to 1423 K. Activation energies of 5 vol.% TiC/Ti-1100 composites for plastic deformation were calculated in different temperature ranges. It is found that the solute C element in Ti matrix has an obvious effect on the hot deformation behavior of the composite. Calculated activation energies of the composite for plastic deformation vary between different temperature ranges. At 1273 K, activation energy of the composite (536 kJ/mol) is more lager than that of monolithic Ti alloys; at 1423 K, activation energy of the composite (245.2 kJ/mol) is lager slightly than that of monolithic Ti alloys. The variation in activation energy is the result of different deformation mechanisms of the composite, which is affected by TiC particles and the variation in the volume ratio of alpha/beta phase.
