This article addresses the gowing epidemic of chronic diseases and the role of supplementation of prebiotics, probiotics, and synbiotics. Prebiotic, probiotic, and synbiotic treatment is still in its infancy. Although remarkable effects have been observed, extensive studies are necessary to understand the many mechanisms behind die observed effects. Compared with acute Conditions, Chronic diseases seem much more resistant to attempts to affect the Course by modification of, microbiota.
