The organometallic synthesis of bifunctional core/shell nanoparticles

摘要
The preparation of high quality nano-materials by the application of organometallic chemistry to solid state synthesis, was investigated. In the process of organometallic investigations into bifunctional core/shell materials, where a supermagnetic species was passivated with a luminescent shell. The transformation from core/shell to dimerse species during annealing was attributed to lattice mismatch and surface tension. The low temperature of reaction was required to allow growth of the core/shell structure, as temperature usually associated with CdSe synthesis resulted in discrete CdSe particles. Small particles of separate Au and CdSe were removed by purification after the reaction. It was found that the use of the polar solvent allowed gold to compensate for electron-density loss with charge from the solvent, thu allowing nucleation on multiple facets. The results shows that the chemistry of bifunctional nanoparticles restricted to materials prepared by organometallic precursors.
