Alternating perpendicular 1-D channels in the supramolecular structure of the copper(II) complex [Cu(pyterpy)2](PF6)2 • CH3OH • 0.5 CH2Cl2 (pyterpy=4′-(4′′′-pyridyl)-2,2':6′,2′′-terpyridine)

摘要
The reaction of 4'-(4"'-pyridyl)-2,2':6',2"-terpyridine (pyterpy) with copper(II) yields the novel mononuclear [Cu(pyter-py)(2)](PF6)(2) complex. The crystal structure shows that the Cu(II) center is coordinated by the terpyridine domains of both pyterpy molecules, while the pyridyl tails remain uncoordinated. Intermolecular pi-pi stacking interactions between the cations in the crystal result in the formation of alternating I-D linear channels which run in perpendicular directions. (C) 2005 Elsevier B.V.
