摘要：

The advances in location-sensing technologies and their widespread deployment are discussed. The recent developments in sensor fusion techniques, location representation and software support facilitate the development of location-aware applications using the multitude of sensors. The existing widest deployments of location-sensing technologies are based on GPS, which is suitable for outdoor applications. The location-aware applications have been developed for a number of everyday scenarios including office applications, navigation in an unfamiliar place, conference aids, medical facilities and home applications.
