Hierarchical control of nanoparticle deposition: High-performance electrically conductive nanocomposite fibers via infiltration

摘要
Multifunctional nanocomposite fibers with electrical conductivities in excess of 1.0 x 10(4) S cm(-1) were synthesized via the incorporation of a connected, silver metal network in rigid-rod poly(p-phenylene benzobisthiazole) during fiber processing. Silver metal is templated in situ using the microfibular network of the acid-swollen fiber(1). The interpenetrating metal-polymer network (2) provided mechanically robust conductivity as well as mechanical performance exceeding pure metal fibers.
