摘要
The practice of z-fiber reinforcement is being examined for its ability to increase the through-the-thickness strength of advanced composite laminates, joints and structural interfaces. Crucial to the development of this technology is obtaining an understanding of the interaction between the z-fiber reinforcement and the structure in which it is embedded. This paper reports the results of an analysis effort that studied the mechanics of this interaction. Specific issues that were addressed in these analyses include thermal loadings, crack initiation, crack growth and load transfer. Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
