In this paper, one-dimensional (1D) nanometer materials LiV3O8 were synthesized with CH3COOLi center dot 2H(2)O, NH4VO3 as the starting materials by the hydrothermal reaction at relatively low temperature and less time. The ratio of the Li/V of the prepared product obtained by inductively coupled plasma with atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES) is 0.338. The composition, structure of the as-synthesis material was characterized by XRD, XPS. The morphology of the prepared LiV3O8 was observed by TEM. The figures indicate the prepared powders are 1D nanometer materials and the sizes are the length of about 900 nm and the diameter of about 150 nm. The electrochemical performance of the prepared LiV3O8 had been investigated, which demonstrated that 1D nanometer materials LiV3O8 exhibited an initial high-discharge specific capacity of 318 mAh/g in the potential range of 1.8-4.0 V and its discharge capacity still remained 300 mAh/g after 30 cycles. All these results indicate that 1D nanometer materials LiV3O8 are promising cathode materials in lithium-ion batteries. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
