摘要
The relaxation rate of excited electrons in a paramagnetic electron gas is calculated. A perturbative theory, based on the charge and spin response functions and the local-field methodology of generalized mean-field descriptions, is adopted. A link between this treatment and the kinetic treatment for the relaxation phenomena is established in the first-order Born limit. The problem of strong coupling is discussed by implementing the kinetic framework with non-linearly screened electrostatic potentials and phase-shift calculations. (C) 2003 Elsevier Science B.V.
