摘要
Extreme floods of the Red River inundate a broad area of the Red River Valley, Manitoba, threatening the City of Winnipeg, numerous small towns, and dispersed farmsteads. The flood characteristics are unique in Canada and are strongly influenced by the landscape of the Red River Valley. The purpose of this paper is to review the geomorphology of the Red River and the Red River Valley to provide a context for the flood hazard.
