摘要
It is shown that the multiple-beam interference in liquid crystal (LC) cells due to indium tin oxide (ITO) films, alignment films and the LC layer itself seriously affects the evaluation of the optical retardation and the actual twist angle. In particular, it is shown that for the determination of the anchoring strength, we need rather accurate values of these quantities. Therefore, we re-examine the related method for the evaluation of the anchoring strength and propose a modified method.
