The effect of high concentration of negative ions in the air on the chlorophyll content in plant leaves

摘要
This research was done on the effect of high concentration of negative ions in the air on chlorophyll contents and photosynthetic efficiency in leaves of Zea mays L. In vivo reflectance and chlorophyll fluorescence were measured in intact maize leaves before and after exposing to the high concentration of negative ions in the air. Reflectance, yield of chlorophyll fluorescence, red shift in chlorophyll fluorescence and blue shift in reflectance are observed in exposed species. These results indicate that high concentrations of negative ions in air cause significant change in: a) chlorophyll content and b) photosynthetic efficiency.
