摘要
The mode of action of bi- and trinuclear zinc hydrolases and their synthetic analogues are reviewed. Countless hydrolysis reactions are performed efficiently and selectively in biological systems through the interplay of two or three divalent metal ions in the active site of an enzyme. Topics covered include phosphate ester hydrolysis, metallo-β-lactamases, metallo-aminopeptidases, and biomimetic models based on bi- and tri-zinc cores.
