摘要
Because of their excellent mechanical properties waterborne polyurethane (PUR) dispersions are used in many application areas. Most of the present uses for polyurethanes are in air-dry or forced dry applications. We are interested in exploring the improvement in resistance properties which are obtained when polyurethane dispersions are crosslinked with amino-formaldehyde resins. To investigate the effect of crosslink density on properties we varied the functional group content in several polyurethane dispersions from low carboxyl functionality to high hydroxyl and carboxyl functionality. The mechanical and chemical resistance properties of the polyurethane films at different crosslink densities are compared along with the effect of self-condensation of the amino formaldehyde crosslinker.
