摘要：

Internet technology is reaching industrial embedded systems first by providing remote access to them. The GLASS system supports remote monitoring capabilities for facilities ranging from large plants to devices on mobile platforms like trains. Cost-effective maintenance of globally distributed devices is an important issue in industrial applications. Remote monitoring over the Internet enables just-in-time maintenance. Separation of operation and monitoring allows flexible organizational models for service.
