Photochemistry of NO2 in earth's stratosphere:: Constraints from observations

摘要
A review on the role of nitrogen oxides in the chemistry of earth's stratosphere was presented. The focus was on chemical processes, especially on field observations. Analysis and observations show that in the lower stratosphere, concentrations of nitrogen oxide radicals were the primary variable controlling local ozone destruction rates. Increased emissions of N2O associated with industrial fertilizer use will continue and it will slowly raise the nitrogen oxide concentrations.
