Preparation and characterization of gold and silver nanoparticles in layered Laponite suspensions

摘要
Gold and silver particles prepared in Laponite suspensions by addition of reductant were studied. The particles obtained were characterized by ultraviolet-vis spectrophotometry and transmission electron microscopy. It was observed that the bimetallic gold/silver particles were alloy particles rather than core-shell particles. The Laponite does not operate as a hard template for the preparation of the particles. Instead Laponite acts a protective colloid to obtain nanometallic particles.
