Magnetic properties and electrical resistivity of YbRhSn and YbIrSn

摘要
Measurements of the magnetic susceptibility, magnetization and electrical resistivity are reported for YbRhSn and YbIrSn. For both compounds the magnetic susceptibility shows the Curie-Weiss behavior with a trivalent Yb ion and the electrical resistivity indicates metallic behavior. For YbIrSn antiferromagnetic order was found below T(N) = 3.2 K. For YbRhSn the rapid decrease of the electrical resistivity below 1.8 K indicates magnetic order. For both compounds the magnetization at 2 K increases monotonously with increasing magnetic field up to 50 kOe. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
