摘要
IR irradiation of a boron thin film coated on a Si(001) wafer in the presence of Mg vapor in an Ar/O2 atmosphere results in the formation of magnesium borate nanotubes (see picture). The structural characterizations demonstrated that the nanotubes are single crystalline orthorhombic Mg3B2O6 (3 MgO·B2O3). The formation mechanism of this particular tubular morphology is discussed.
