[GRAPHICS] An acyclic bolaamphiphile forms ion channels in vesicles and planar bilayer membranes that are closely similar to the channels formed by related bismacrocyclic compounds. Thus the function of these ion channels does not depend on synthetically difficult macrocyclic subunits.
