摘要：

A paradox of RNA-directed transcriptional silencing is that low-level transcription through the silenced locus is observed and may help maintain the silenced state. Discovery of a plant-specific RNA polymerase that directs heterochromatic silencing helps to resolve this issue (Herr et al., 2005; Onodera et al., 2005).
