摘要
Several typical reactor-adsorber arrangements proposed for elimination of emissions of hydrocarbons during the cold-start of automotive engines were studied and compared by means of mathematical modelling. The effects of system properties such as heat capacities, catalyst activity and operating parameters such as time of switching from adsorption mode to desorption mode and bypass ratio were investigated. While some arrangements revealed relatively high robustness and large range of available operating parameter intervals for complete conversion of hydrocarbons, others exhibited high sensitivity to system properties and operating parameters. A simple adaptive control was tested for the reactor-adsorber-reactor arrangement. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
