Bladder cancer, 1996

Bladder cancer was one of the first cancers associated with workplace exposure to carcinogens, and although bladder cancer is largely preventable, its incidence is increasing in the United States. Treatment for bladder cancer has improved. Fewer patients require radical cystectomy as the primary treatment, bladder replacement procedures have improved, and more effective chemotherapy has been developed. This article reviews the epidemiology and etiology, clinical features, diagnosis, and treatment of bladder cancer.
