A simple, rapid, and highly efficient gene expression system for multiheme cytochromes c

摘要
The genes of tetraheme cytochrome c(3) and hexadecaheme high-molecular-weight cytochrome c from Desulfovibrio vulgaris could be overexpressed as holoproteins in Shewanella oneidensis TSP-C using pUC-type vectors of E. coli. Surprisingly, S. oneidensis was transformed directly by pUC-type vectors through electroporation. The yields of the recombinant proteins in this expression system were much higher than the previously reported ones.
