Low-temperature tritium releasing ceramics as potential materials for the ITER breeding blanket

摘要
Li2ZrO3 and Li2TiO3 are being developed at CEA as ceramic breeder for the European DEMO-relevant, B.I.T. solid blanket concept. Baseline, thermal, and mechanical properties are studied. Critical issues, namely, materials fabricability, compatibility, thermomechanical, irradiation and tritium release behaviours are addressed. Results of investigations show that materials do meet the B.I.T. requirements. Moreover, the excellent tritium release performance of Li2ZrO3 and Li2TiO3 designate these ceramics as promising materials for the ITER breeding blanket.
