Getting around consistent initialization of DAE systems?

摘要
The initialization of DAE systems in general is a difficult numerical problem. If step responses in the vicinity of some steady state are studied, rigorous numerical initialization can be bypassed under certain restrictive conditions. For that purpose a sufficiently smooth input function approximating the discontinuous step is applied to the steady state and integration with some automatic integration code is started without initialization. This contribution analyzes the restrictions in applying this method successfully as well as the potential shortcomings of the computed approximate solutions. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
