Solubilization of Schiff bases having built-in hydrophobic cleft in microemulsions

摘要
Microemulsion provides a rigid environment to solubilizates. The Schiff bases with long alkyl chain at ortho and para positions in the benzene nucleus showed different spectral behaviour in microemulsions and organic solvents. The ortho substituted compounds showed more structured characteristics than the para substituted compounds. From the spectral data, four different zones in a microemulsion medium have been proposed. These four zones have different solvation capacity for the Schiff bases.
