摘要
Fractscript is a macro that uses the box-counting technique to calculate the fractal dimension of multiple objects within an individual image. This paper describes Fractscript and verifies its results using objects with known fractal dimension, The concept of fractal dimensions aids in the understanding and partial ordering of apparently random geological forms. By reducing user input and standardising any approach to the calculation of the fractal dimension, the automation of techniques that can be used to calculate the fractal dimension of geological material may prove to be both expedient and accurate. The macro was also tested successfully on images from thin sections of sandstones, focusing on individual porel outlines, the results of which are presented as examples.
