Surveillance and management of recurrence for upper tract transitional cell carcinoma

This article reviews the natural history of upper tract transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) to identify risk factors and patterns of recurrence, which in turn identify potential targets for surveillance. Technologic advances in the field are changing the management and follow-up of patients with upper tract TCC. Current surveillance tools are reviewed, and surveillance strategies and management of recurrence are discussed.
