The removal of codeposited layers from TFTR tiles by O2 gas exposure

摘要
Graphite tiles from the TFTR inner bumper limiter have been exposed to O-2 gas at 2100 Pa and 523-623 K in order to remove codeposited carbon/deuterium layers. It was found that most of the codeposited layer was removed at a rate similar to 3 orders of magnitude faster than that observed for thinner laboratory plasma deposited films. Such fast erosion may make removal of codeposited films in ITER by O-2 gas exposure a reasonable option. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
