Reactive thermal spraying of TiC-Fe composite coating by using asphalt as carbonaceous precursor

摘要
A precursor carbonization-composition process to produce Ti-fe-C system compound powder for reactive flame spraying TiC reinforced composites coatings, was discussed. Asphalt was used as the carbonaceous precursor alongside ferrotitanium powder with 47 wt% Ti and 53 wt% Fe, in the study. The carbonaceous precursor was used as the origin of carbon to prepare agglomerated compound spraying powder by carbonization. XRD diffraction patterns and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was mused in the study to estimate the microstructure formation in the carbonization process.
