摘要：

The development of process ontologies and ontology-based simulation for modeling earth system is discussed. DARPA is developing an extension to OWL called Semantic Web Rule Language (SWRL) which express some aspects of rules and process behaviors. Spatial data play a key role in modeling the earth system as the inputs to models and as a measure against which results are validated. The ontology-based discovery and retrieval of geographic information and metadata's semantics for enhancing data recovery are also elaborated.
