Homogeneous polystyrene and silica gel polymer hybrids have been prepared utilizing the sol-gel reaction of phenyltrimethoxysilane; pi-pi interactions between phenyl groups of the organic polymer and those of silica gel were found to play a critical role for the homogeneity.
