摘要
Cutting knives made of HSS steel were ion nitrided at 350 degrees C and 500 degrees C. Good wood cutting performance was achieved with the low temperature process. The presence of not-bonded N atoms in the very surface indicates the shallow-ion implantation role in the lowtemperature-ion-nitriding. Cutting properties of modified knives were verified in laboratory and industrial scale in several enterprises. The results achieved indicate strong relation between knives performance and enterprises production profiles. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
