Optically amplified RNA-protein detection methods using light-harvesting conjugated polymers

摘要
An RNA sensor that interfaces specific RNA-protein binding events with the light harvesting properties of conjugated polymers was reported. As such, close proximity between macromolecules to ensure FRET was coordinated by electrostatic interactions. Extension to other light-harvesting species, such as dendritic molecules and semiconductor nanoparticles can be expected. Thus, optical amplification should lead to assays which can probe concentration regimes not easily observed by using standard dye/dye FRET assays.
