Tangutorine (1) was isolated from the leaves of Nitraria tangutorum and shown to possess a novel P-carboline skeleton. The structure and stereochemistry were determined on the basis of spectral and X-ray crystallographic data. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
