The immobilization of alkenyl-functionalized bis(imino)pyridyliron(II) complexes on an SiMe2H-modified silica via hydrolization was performed. MAO-treated silica catalysts (200mg) were reacted with 10 mL of aqueous nitric acid in an ultrasonic bath for 25 minutes, and this solution was separated from silica and after centrifugation and diluted to 100 mL. It was found that these heterogenized catalysts showed improved activities at higher temperature. It was also found that the molecular weights of polymers obtained with heterogenized systems were much higher than those achieved with the corresponding homogeneous catalysts.
