Surface properties and microtexture of catalytic multi-walled carbon nanotubes

摘要
The surface properties of the as-prepared carbon nanotubes and the nanotubes annealed above 2000 °C that may be obtained by the determination of the active surface area (ASA) and the total surface area (TSA) of the carbon material are investigated. The results can be correlated to the microtexture of the carbon nanotubes observed by electron microscopy. It is shown that a carbon surface is mainly composed of two types of planes, basal planes and edge planes.
