Carbon fiber mats as resistive heating elements

摘要
The effectiveness of carbon fiber mats as heating elements was evaluated. Evaluation was conducted by passing a direct current (0.1-0.4 A) along the length of the specimen using electrical contacts. The thermal stability of the bare fiber mat was investigated using thermogravimetric analysis. A mat comprising bare short carbon fibers and exhibiting volume electrical resistivity of 0.11 ω cm and thermal stability up to 205°C was found to be an effective resistive heating element.
