摘要
Diffuse optical tomography (DOT) is an emerging medical imaging modality. This technique is being used at present to detect tumors in the breast and image the brain. This paper introduces the basic idea of DOT and briefly reviews the history of optical methods in medicine as relevant to the development of DOT. Some specific recent results are summarized as examples of the current state of DOT research.
