A new mixed metal titanate: The synthesis and characterization of Ba2Fe2Ti4O13

摘要
The new mixed metal titanate Ba2Fe2Ti4O13 (1) was obtained in crystalline form by heating a mixture of BaCO3, Fe3O4 and TiO2 at 1350 degrees C for 48 h. Compound 1 was characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods. It is isomorphous to the related known compounds Na2Ti6O13 and Ba2NiTi5O13. The X-ray diffraction and Mossbauer measurements of 1 obtained at room temperature indicate that the iron ions are unequally distributed between the three independent sites occupied by the transition metal ions.
