摘要
A recently proposed function for optimization of anaerobic glycolysis is analysed. The maximum value of this optimization function is shown in general to lead to a conserved energy yield of 50% for any coupled reaction. Maximization of the optimization function is shown to correspond to maximizing the product of two variables, the sum of which is constant. The maximum value of the product is always obtained when the two variables have the same size.
