Superplastic phenomenon in a large-grained TiAl alloy

摘要
The large-grained TiAl alloy exhibits superplasticity in the temperature range of 1025-1100°C and strain rate ranging from 4 × 10-5 s-1 to 1.28 × 10-3 s-1. A maximum elongation of 287.5% with a m value of 0.39 was obtained at 1100°C and 4 × 10-5 s-1. The activation energy was determined as 331.4 kJ/mol, which suggests the rate process of superplatic deformation is controlled by lattice diffusion. A significant refinement of average grain size during superplastic deformation was found, which is beneficial to improve mechanical properties.
