摘要
We describe a system to study how the retina processes and encodes a visual image. The "Retinal Readout System" will allow the simultaneous detection of signals from hundreds of output cells in live retinal tissue as a visual image is focused on the input cells. The signals will be detected in real-time, with all spatial and temporal correlations recorded. The system will be based, in part, on the technology of silicon microstrip detectors.
