Spectroscopical characterization of carbonaceous matter prepared through the Glaser coupling reaction route

Carbonaceous matter prepared by the Glaser coupling reaction route have been characterized by solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and X-ray powder diffraction analysis. Additional results are obtained and compared to previous experimental studies. A good qualitative agreement between the structural information deduced from the C13-CP/magic angle spinning NMR spectrum and those deduced from the Raman spectrum of the carbonaceous matter prepared by the Glaser coupling reaction. Powder X-ray diffraction shows only a very broad unresolved peak at about 2θ = 26° similar to that already recorded on previous studies and similar to the diffraction pattern of carbon black or disordered carbon.
