摘要：

The Schiff base of 4-(6-hydroxyhexyloxy)-N-(5-nitro-2-thienylmethylene)aniline (H6Th), in which a nitrothienyl group as acceptor and an oxyphenyl group as donor was synthesized by condensation method. The methacrylate monomer 4-(6-methacryloyloxy hexyloxy)-N-(5-nitro-2-thienylmethylene)aniline (M6Th) was synthesized and polymerized using a free radical initiator to produce polymer (P6Th) useful for guest-host interaction. Dichroic ratio R and order parameter S of solutions of the nonlinear materials H6Th, M6Th, and P6Th in the nematic solvent, were investigated by the measuring of the intensity of the absorption bands in the visible region of parallel aligned samples. The effect of the solvent nature on the visible absorption of the guest materials were studied.
